You’ve Come Along

An echo from the past
The truth slips through my hands
No need to try and force it
There’s no need to show my plan

It happens everyday
The truth stands in your way
All your avoided choices
You take a bite of everything

And you, you’ve come along
You come alone
You’ve come along
But you got it wrong

A box of vague complaints
A cold and lifeless state
It comes down to counting losses
It comes down to losing faith

I’m staring down a path
Where daily bread don’t last
You’re building a final fortress
And take a bite of everything

While you, you’ve come along
And you come alone
No need to try and force it
There’s no need to show my plans

And you, you’ve come along
But you got it wrong

It echoes from the past
Where truth and treason clash
And down here it’s all distorted
And down here it’s all for sale

A steady fall from grace
But judgement’s not my place
Painting your final portrait
You take a bite of everything

But you, and you’ve come along
And you come alone
No need to try and force it
And no need to show my plans

And you’ve come along
But you got it wrong
All these avoided choices
You take a bite of everything

But you, you’ve come along
You come alone
Painting a final portrait
You take a bite of everything

But you, you’ve come along
But you got it wrong
